Thanks to my new wonderful hostess, I’ve moved to my own subdomain! COME VISIT ME! :]

For me! It’s been a couple of years I’ve graduated high school (2006). I’ve attempted to attend college twice, with no success. This was due to an event that changed my life the summer after I graduated. I don’t care to go into further detail.

Anyway, I’ll be attending Rasmussen college here in Minnesota. I’ll be working towards an Associate’s degree in Information Systems Management with an emphasis in Web Programming. I’ll be taking full-time classes. It will take me about a year and a half to complete. Finally, I’m getting my life back on track! It’s exciting!

I have more to talk about, but I’ll save it for another post. Good night, everyone!

I understand that you can only come up with so many ideas. Movies have been around for a LONG, long time. There are only so many interesting, fun things you can do. But come on, 2008 — what’s with these movies?!

Which movies am I referring to? The Happening and The Ruins.

Let me warn you. The Ruins, does not really include much of actual
ruins. The Happening? Is definitely not happening. At least not for me.

Why have I grouped these movies together? What’s the similarity?
Two words: KILLER PLANTS. I just spoiled both of these movies for you.

In The Happening, the plants somehow manage to evolve into “defensive”
things and start releasing a gas that makes humans suicidal. But not just any human at first, only humans in groups of 3 or more. Eventually the plants figure it out though, and target everybody. Blahblahblah.. snore. They should’ve gone with the theory they considered in the beginning of the movie – biological terrorism. That’s way more interesting. M. Night? You’ve disappointed me. I’m sorry, but try again next time.

Things don’t improve in The Ruins. The trailers for this movie and posters give the impression of actual RUINS. Well, there are ruins. I’ll give them that. But the people get trapped on top of the ruins. And they can’t leave, because a bunch of crazy people will kill them because they’ve been contaminated. Contaminated with what, you ask? KILLER PLANTS. And we’re not talking just any killer plants. Ooh no, these killer plants are GENIUS. They can mimic sounds. That’s how the people start dying. They think they hear a cell phone ringing, and when they go to retrieve it, they find the plant mimicing the sound of a now-dead cell phone. Eek! Someone gets hurt. Blahblahblah.. the plants take over their body.. and they die. The plants eat the people.

All I can say is.. what the?! I’m disappointed. These movies both looked relatively interesting.

Oh well.. lets hope that’s enough killer plants for this year in Hollywood!

Well, I had a friend who could never say my name right – my real name is Danielle – and when she said it, it sounded like “dani yells.” Add that interesting nickname to my love of writing, and we’ve got a brand new blog. Wow, it’s been quite a while! I’ve had my hands full lately, so I haven’t had much time to blog.

First and foremost, welcome my new addition — Remey the chinchilla!
I brought this handsome man home last Saturday. I found him on Craigslist. He’s such a sweetie; I absolutely adore him!

Secondly, I’ve been working on some websites for people. I’m trying to break into the freelance design world. So far, so good! I’d like to save up to go to college, if at all possible. I would’ve gone straight out of high school, but certain things in my personal life prevented it.

Oh, and Bobbi, I’m still alive! It’s just been hectic. I’ll post a more lengthy entry later, but right now I have to get going.

PS: Dani-Lynn.com may no longer exist soon. I can’t afford to renew the domain (it cost me $100 through BlueHost; and while I love them, there just HAS to be a cheaper place!), and it expires the end of August. What should I do?!

Is it just me, or is this stuff just basically glorified toast?

Oh well. It’s still tasty.

That’s all J had to say after visiting my parents this past weekend.

I did tell him they lived in the middle of a national forest.

We had a great time. BBQ’d, watched movies during the rain — up until the power went out. Yep, you read right – the power went out for SIX HOURS while we were visiting my parents. This happened because of a HUGE storm that blew through while we were there.

Talk about scary!

Anyway, I’m not feeling very well at the moment, but I wanted to mention my awesome holiday weekend. How was yours?

I mentioned a couple days ago that J & I went on a nature walk through a local wildlife refuge. Although we didn’t see a lot of wildlife (I don’t blame them, they’re awfully close to the big city!), we saw plenty of other beautiful sights. Here are some of the photos.

It’s scenes like this that make me miss living out in the country.

Turtle, turtle! This adorable little painted turtle decided to make an appearance as we were gazing into the water.

Lilacs.. my absolute FAVORITE. They smell so wonderful.

I’ve been designing websites since I was 11 years old. Crazy, right? I taught myself everything I know. And I’ve always LOVED designing websites. I just can’t afford to go to school for it, and since I don’t have a degree, most people don’t want to hire me. But then J inspired me. She had mentioned that she uses Craigslist to reach out to potential clients for her freelance graphic/web design.

So I’ve decided I’m going to officially open up a design site (hopefully sometime this afternoon) and start trying to get my own freelance web design business going.

The point of this entry? To say THANK YOU, J. You’re an awesome inspiration and I hope I can do as well as you.

It’s been a few months since I’ve blogged about my weight. Let’s just say, I’m ashamed. I’m chubby. While I’ve grown rather fond of breasts that are larger than a B cup, something has got to be done about my weight. I’ve gone from a size 7 to a size 11.

So I’m going to start watching what I’m eating, and exercising frequently. However, this is where the story gets interesting — Jason is underweight. Yeah, you read that right. Underweight.

I have no idea how, or why, but he’s like.. 20+ pounds lighter than he should be. So we’re going to work on a lifestyle to help him gain weight, while I’m trying to lose weight. Which is going to make cooking dinner quite interesting, to say the least.

If anybody has tips for either of us — how to lose or to gain weight, please comment with them!

Anyway, in other news — it’s been a couple of days since I’ve blogged because the weekend was quite interesting. We partied with a friend on Friday night (partied a little TOO hard, might I add), and spent most of Saturday recovering from it. On Sunday we went for a nature walk through a local wildlife refuge. It was so awesome; I’ll try to upload the pictures sometime soon, but I have to find where I packed my camera cable.
